I did something useful

Today I attended a city council meeting, not typically useful, but tonight was special. The LA County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) decided to send out a call for people to attend tonights city council meeting to get Pasadena to implement it's bike plan.

Over 41 people attended (41 people signed a list they passed around, and I think there were others.) It looked like we were 2/3 to 3/4 of the people in the room.

Then afterward I volunteered to join the core set of activists following up on the verbal request by one of the council members to check the current status of the project and make sure that it's moving forward.

The other thing was I noticed, one of the higher ups in the LACBC was there facilitating the protest. I found his management style quite admirable. After we made our case and left, he made sure that everyone in our group had a chance to speak, summerized the events, and made sure that there were people available to follow up on the outstanding issues. All done quite kindly.
