Leaf blowers

A nearby neighbor seems to really like his electric leaf blower. And admittedly that's less environmentally destructive than a gasoline powered one (which have _no_ emissions restrictions).

However it's still really noisy.

And in watching people using leaf blowers, they don't seem to be any faster than using a broom. So why, oh why do people insist on using them?

I think I may be developing increasing difficulty hearing people talk (or I've currently got a run of quiet speakers), but boy I can still hear all of the annoying noises, leaf blowers, cars, refrigerators.
