So I turned in my paperwork to apply for a car loan a few days ago, and I just got my pre-approval.

As much as I desperatly want to be out of debt and working my way toward financial independence, if one was to buy a car now does seem like a good time for it.

I guess there are some advantages, the car I'm looking at is quite fuel efficient has better emissions than my current car and should be more reliable.

The extra reliablity means that picking up and visiting friends up north (say for instance santa cruz) should be much more likely.

Of course then there's the question of what options to add. The fold down rear seat seems like it might be a good idea. Or perhaps the power door locks to deal with those people who forget to lock the door.

But really I want to get away with as minimalist of a car as I can.

I got power door locks as part of the package on my Neon despite not wanting them, and they've turned out to be well worth having. Get good seats too - you're going to be sitting in them for years to come!
