Poor Girlfriend

My girlfriend recently had surgery for her herniated disk, then a couple of days ago she got some kind of viral infection. Over the weekend she started shivering uncontrollably and then spent the weekend in bed. Monday we visited her campus's health center, where they agreed, yep its viral, nope we cant do anything other than suggest you take pain killers.

As I sit here I just hear a frequent "cough cough".

Not to mention she's feeling down as the coughing is stressing the incision.

I've tried to do everything I can to make her more comfortable, but there's not really much else that can be done, other than wait (and try to keep her spirits up.)

Yeah, not much you can do. Bed rest and adequate fluid intake is really the majority of what can be done.

Decongestants, like Sudafed, could help. Pain Killers might as well.

When Melody had a very bad cough, she found an inhaler was very helpful to help alieviate the harm of wheezing and coughing fits, though it did not reduce the duration of the infection. You can buy an epinephrine inhaler like Primatene in a regular drug store non-prescription, though I would ask your doctor or a pharmacist if it is okay to use one during a viral infection. Some other names are Adrenalin, Broniten Mist, Bronkaid Mistometer, and Sus-Phrine.

I should mention that to her.

Though one of the doctors called back and she's at least partially suffering from strep.
