Back during E3 I heard about the Wii console and how the games looked really quite fun and accessible. So I tried asking my girlfriend, so should we pre-order one? And she was all, like, nah we've got WoW, we're PC gamers, we don't need no consoles.

Then the TV media blitz happend and since I haven't gotten MythTV working on her TV, she still sees commercials. And once the advertising has had time to sink into her brain she suddenly started wanting one.

The problem of course was that now everyone wanted one so availability was quite scarce.

However, a couple of weeks ago my coworker and I had a tip of a Wii shipment to a local gamestop so we showed up early and stood in line for a couple of hours. When they finally opened they told us that the shipment was delayed, and took the names and numbers of some of us. We were a bit doubtful that they would call, but eventually they did and my coworker and I got to go over today and pick up our Wii consoles.

My coworkers dad had managed to score a couple of extra controller bits at the Toys-R-Us, but we still need at least one nunchuck controller for two player gaming, and possibly more wii-motes and nunchucks for 3-4 player gaming.

Now I just wish there was a bit of a SDK for the Wii, it'd be really convenient if the thing had Wake-on-Lan, AirTunes support, and a MythTV channel. I wonder if the GameCube specs are enough for airtunes or mythtv, as there are ways of getting gamecube homebrew to run on the Wii.

So if anyone needs some gaming supplies I'm going to recommend the gamestop at hastings ranch for actually having carried through with promising us a Wii and selling it to us.
