My laptop hard disk is dying... I went ahead and ordered a new one (since I wanted to upgrade to a larger drive anyway.) Hopefully fedex can race the new one to my hands before the old one grinds into dust.

An odd thing happened to me yesterday. I went to the regular BiNet LA party. I kind of didn't want to be there, I was feeling unhappy and antisocial to begin with and as time has progressed I've felt less and less interested in the organization. It certainly doesn't help that 80% of the people who show up are men, and the 80% of the women who show up are poly. I just don't feel like I belong there anymore.

Now the interesting detail was I was feeling depressed when I left, cried a bit on my way home. But then as I got home someone else called and invited me to go play a round of settlers of catan. Then, I was much happier. I went and played games with people that I knew, in a situation that I find comfortable, and life seemed much better.

So now I'm wondering if I've lost any ability to relate to non-geeks.
Or perhaps another idea is that I kind of want to talk about stuff that interests me, and all of those things are far too depressing. (Basically the question, how bad is the environment and geopolitical scene and what do we need to stop doing to keep something resembling a functional civilization.)

I remember reading in some cyberpunk game, about how "Save the dolphin" was too late, and that in the game world people were talking about "Save the Tuna". The scary thing is, tuna actually is being overfished.

It'd be nice if I could focus on positive things that are improving in the world, that people are actually doing say artemii's working on butterfly gardens.

Enough babbling, it's time for bed. I've got to get up early 'cause my therapist is back from her 2 week vacation.
