Running for office

« previous entry | next entry »

It seems really odd that you can fill out this form to attempt to qualify for running for any state of california elected position--like Governor or Senator (in addition to a whole host of superior judge positions).

BTW, anyone know a currently registered green party member in the 21st senate district? I need at least 20 signatures for Green Party County Council.

Is topanga in the district district 21?

Also the guy pulling me into this actually has a database of the registered greens in the area. Apparently when you run for office you can buy a CD-ROM of all the registered voters in your region.

I'm a Green, and I live in North Hollywood (also in District 21). I'd be proud to sign for a Green party member.

Ooh neat! Do you know other greens in the area? And might there be some good time and place to meet some time over the weekend or early next week?

I'm "running" for a seat on the county council, which considering there are currently 2 people qualified for the position and 6 seats, if I get sufficient signatures I'll be "elected" by beating out those empty seats.

I got asked because they're looking for more people to show up and try to represent the inland area. (Since apparently the current green stronghold is santa monica.)

There are a few more Green's that I know of in this area. Let me send some email's off to see if anyone else is available to get together and have a "signing meet-up".

I wish there were more Green's in the Valley ((sigh)). Perhaps if Green's were more active in educating young people prior to their choosing a party (in their government or civics classes in high school), teens would know more about our party, and check the Green Party box instead of Democrate or Independant.

As soon as I hear from anyone else, I'll let you know!

I got all my paperwork so I can accept signatures, I'll probably be off working at a starbucks in glendale with my girlfriend dragonblink tomorrow late afternoon.

Also I just learned of the existence of CSUN greens, and there might be groups closer to you at Active LA Country Green Locals.

I'm not sure what I'm registared as. I think I was independent for a long time then I wanted to vote in the pre vote to vote for who the democrats ran, so I might have switched.

I wonder how long it would take to change my reg.

:)

It takes a few weeks, though theoretically if someone were to sign my form in your situation I could change their registration to green and carry the form in when I turned in the signature, which would then count.
