Systems really should still ship with hard power switches. I mean, when the smoke starts coming out of your coworkers laptop, having to hold the power button for 4 seconds is a touch too slow. And yanking the cord out of the wall isn't so useful for a laptop either.

I kind of miss those giant red emergency off switches in mainframe rooms.

I've almost gotten unplugging my laptop and releasing the battery down to a single motion.
