Okay the tragedy, it's real to me now...

And then I heard the bush speech... the line "We were attacked because American is the greatest beacon for freedom." Yeah, right. We are the richest most powerful country. Freedom had nothing to do with it.

Bush said today that it was a war of good against evil. I guess that most people really do believe that to be the case.

I just read an American woman's opinion that the WTC towers represented a "Tower of Babel, destroyed as a lesson in arrogance and blindness".

I am not impressed with the warlike response coming out of all Western governments. It's just another part of the same cycle of death, violence and destruction. It will solve nothing except to encourage more people to learn a murderous hate.

On the progressive stations I was listening to there were two response described. One is to prevent things like this from happening in the future, to stop angering the rest of the planet. The other response is to build the biggest and most powerful millitary/intellegence system to watch everyone.

Unfortunatly the problem with terrorist attacks is you can't provide perfect security against it. If there's a large enough pool of people who hate an organization you're in trouble.
