Out of Gas: The End of the Age of Oil

chameleonlizard told me about a talk at Caltech by David Goodstein on his new book Out of Gas: The End of the Age of Oil.

One of his slides read Prediction: Civilization as we know it will end within this century, when the fuel runs out (or at least something very close to that), though he went on to say that he hopes he's wrong and that he hopes by making this prediction he will help prevent this prediction from happening.

After that he pointed out that there are groups that are beginning to work on solutions.

Stanford University Global Climate & Energy Project and he mentioned a group here at Caltech whose information I didn't manage to write down fast enough.
