Big Brother?

Tragically, the Bush Administration is hobbled by its ideology. It doesn't believe in government owning infrastructure, let alone the federal government's assisting local and state governments in improving that infrastructure. Thus the billions of dollars spent so far have been used to improve communications between the local police force and the Pentagon -- but not for improved communications among local emergency providers. Washington has used its resources to dramatically improve our surveillance capacity, to create huge interconnected databases of suspected terrorists, to create a federalized network to monitor our airport and shipping passengers.

It occured to me that all the monitoring technology in the world wont help if the power goes out. Big Brother can't stare at us in the dark.

Also if you want to avoid blackouts in the future, home power might have some suggestions.

The US thinks it's better than any other country. It can't even fix all the problems within its own country.

Shh... don't mention that there are problems too loudly, or they might think you're a communist^H^H^H^H terrorist (or whatever other evildoer of the week they're trying to distract us with).
