this pdf published by Simmons & Co in the speaches & papers section is rather interesting.

In it he analyzes why prices spiked to $10/mcf for natural gas and why an unprecedented drilling boom couldn't increase natural gas production.

What a quote:
To keep supply flat an exponential growth in new gas wells is imperative.
Pity all the signs show the wells they're finding dry up at ever faster rates.
