Shock, horror, bad data?

As I was biking somewhere I realized that the data I was quoting for how far I'd been biking may be in error. It's based off the number of rotations of my wheel whose size I had to measure and program. *sigh* I might've gotten it wrong.

Thankfully I have a nifty new GPS unit, that as soon as I figure out how to download data from, will give me an alternate measure of how far I've travelled.

Well say your maths was really far out and you only went 14 miles instead of 16, would it really make that big a difference? Maybe you went even further than you think! :)

It's amazing how far you can go on a bicycle.
I walk into town (and back) and it's about 3 miles each way, I'm sure I could go for miles on a bicycle.

For some reason people like to just sit in their big cars, though, and then go to the gym to run on a running machine to try and make up for it!

You talk of getting all these fancy bicycles tho, aren't you scared they will get stolen? I always try and get hold of a bicycle nobody will steal! :)

;) Yes I could've gone further, I was wondering how far it was, because the distance from my apartment to my doctors office was supposed to be 4.4 miles. So although I a little went farther than that and took a circuitous route I didn't think it would've been an extra 4 or 5 miles. But thinking about it now there was an extra 2 miles early on and I did wander some so it's probably not too far off.

On some cycling site I found an argument that bicycling counts as negative time. Assuming you drive home for 30 minutes and the drive to a gym and exercise for an hour. If it takes you 50 minutes to bike the the same distance you get the exercise and have saved 30 minutes...

Yes, I'm a little worried by that, though one of the nice things about the folding bikes is you can turn them into little blocks of metal that'll fit under your desk.
