Wow, europe is experiencing negative population growth...

this article on tech skill shortages list births per woman. The highest was Ireland at 1.9, the lowest was Spain at 1.1. Zero population growth is at about 2.1 births per woman.

On the plus side this means it might be easier for a computer geek like myself to move to europe. The desirable (for gay people) Denmark, has low unemployement (4.3%) and needs more IT people. I think that's the best combination for immigration.

Hmmm... Now that I think about it, we've had a number of grad students and post docs work at Caltech for several months. I wonder how I can take advantage of those programs.

the u.s. is the only post-industrial country that won't reach zero population growth within the first 30 yrs of this century, and that's mostly because of immigration.
