Its been a really long time since I tried to write. I keep meaning to roll my own blog software, but there's so many other things I should be doing.

At the moment I'm trying to compile the meego/N9 contact & calendaring code on my ubuntu box. Because really I should have a working calendar, and my org-mode files got too cluttered, and evolution/thunderbird/korganizer all feel too heavyweight.

I think apple did a good job with the versions of address book & icalendar on the versions of OS X I'd used 10.1-10.6, and would like some functionality like that on ubuntu. Since I've spent the last year or two trying to rebuild one of my work applications around the semantic web stack, gnome tracker's use of sparql appeals to me. And since some chunk of the N9's PIM stack was integrated with tracker, it seemed like a fun place to poke.

Hi thought I'd try to do a thing the simple way instead of the hard way for a change. (the writing on LJ again, as opposed to the above calendar solution which is definitely the hard way).

But, but...that would require not overthinking things and not making your full life more difficult and exasperating than it already is! :D

Yes it would. It took me like a year of thinking "maybe I should write on LJ." "But what of the privacy implications? And SUP media's desire to sneak link rewriting in?"

But then what of the other sites that let you do long format writing, Google+ is designed to help them model peope better for ad serving. And facebook is a a privacy nightmare.

But then, I did pay for a permanent account a long time ago, so... I might as well use something that's free to me.

So as you can see, I'm still me. Filled with over analysis and glacially slow decision making. ;)

I wouldn't have you any other way!

It's good to see you here, regardless. As you can see, I've suddenly begun writing here again, so even though my friends list is pretty quiet, I'm glad to be back.
