Without fear of contradiction, I can safely say that every step in progress that woman has made she has been assailed by ecclesiastics that her most vigilant unwearied opponents have always been the clergy & the religious press has always been the most bitter & unfair in its criticisms
(Untitled Manuscript on Family State & Church, Elizabeth Cady Staton, 1888, from Women without superstition, p 155).

Religion is the weight that drags humanity back into hatred, Religion is what unleashes the nightmares that make us fear those who are different. Religion is the enemy of reason, Religion is the enemy of tolerance.

Whenever I cry for acceptance, Religion is there to crush it.
