Our lab is closely collaborating with Stanford for the ENCODE project which leads to an unpleasant for me, 9am weekly status conference call. (I also find being forced to get up, frequently destroys my ability to produce any code).

Aside from having to get up early in the morning, and the futility of meetings, there's also the wretched sound quality from a bunch of people huddling around a speaker phone. With traditional telephony, remote call-ins are too expensive for me to call in while I'm still home.

So I suggested using ventrilo as an alternative and my boss was intrigued by the idea.
Especially since it would work better for all the primary investigators who are wandering around the world.

So does that mean there are a bunch of people huddled around a speaker phone with wooden dummies on their laps?

:-)

that it takes the body about 20 days to acclimate to a new clock.

(Don't they say it is 21 days to form a new habit?)

I'm sorry for your misfortune.
