Moving Spasticity

I've been feeling stressed because of our upcoming move still having too many loose ends.

One loose end is I hadn't actually seen the new apartment, just the model unit below it. Also they warned us when we toured it, that there was a chance that there'd be a hang up on getting their final approvals.

Needless to say this left me feeling rather worried that something would go wrong and we'd show up and there'd be no apartment.

So yesterday morning I decided to try and calm myself down by going over to the complex and asking to see it.

And I discovered the apartment does actually exist, isn't filled with vicious monsters, and didn't have any obvious unusual space-time distortions.

It did however have a pretty ugly color of carpet. (It's a way to light shade of beige)

Why do places install carpet? Carpet sucks, well maybe the high traffic carpet found in offices would be ok.

You could always buy one of the recycled-plastic rugs like we have, to cover the fugly Landlord Carpet and add a touch of color. They come in an amazing variety of patterns. Put "recycled plastic rug" into a Google search and have at it.

Added advantages: Washable and cat-proof.

I'm sorry you were denied the opportunity of chasing vicious monsters into unusual space-time distortions.

As for carpet - from first hand experience I know that wood is much noisier for your neighbors below you than carpet.

Still, why can't they use high traffic carpet? instead of the easy to ruin plush stuff?

plus carpet is just awful - it outgasses from the glue, it collects allergens like mad, it's very hard to really truly adequately clean. ugh. for me, i only rent apartments with all hardwood/tiled floors because carpets are just so so bad for people with allergies and chemical sensitivities.

that having been said- luckily you are not in that camp:) and i too am sorry you missed out on the chance to chase monsters.

Currently just moral support and possibly a place to send some of our unneeded stuff. (Mover's should cost us about $300)

You can just send your computer collection over here. We'll take good care of it in perpetuity. Really. :)
