So I was eating dinner at my kitchen table while reading and writing email off of my laptop with my now functional wireless network.

Yippie...

Now if I could just get some more 1-wire sensors and figure out how to cable my apartment some more... then I'd really be a geek.

Yup... temperature and humidity information for both rooms of my apartment and the outside. All available off of a web page.

Now if only that part would show up.

Yes it does...

Though now I'm wondering if I should get the antenna... I think with that I should be able to cover pretty much the entire lot that my apartment is on, including the little wooded area out back.

There's a little plug on the orinoco cards for adding an external antenna. (It's under the little round cut out thingy on the edge of the card.)

Take a look at nocat.org they've got links to several other sites discussing antenna choices. At the most extreme with some parabolic dishes you can get 20 miles--though alignment is painful.

And don't forget to make it finger-accessible, too :)
