"Bacon"

My girlfriend likes to go on how wonderful pig bacon is, and mocks me because I've never eaten "real" bacon. (Before going vegetarian, my parents church used a simplified version of kosher which forbid eating pig.)

However when I found some vegetarian bacon at Trader Joes I had to get some, and when she shared with her friends that I was cooking an abomination, I decided I had to share a picture.

I don't mock you for never having eaten real bacon. I pity you.

That's basically my feeling on it. Oh, and bacon made in the oven is awesome. Pan-fried bacon is not so much. And vegetarian bacon, which I have had, is TEH AWFUL.

That kinda looks like a Valentine heart in the strip on the left, if you don't look too close. :)

I've actually got a package of the real thing here, but when I take it out of the freezer her brother is going to inhale it, so if she wants the real thing she's gotta move fast.

I actually like veggie bacon a lot more than I'd ever liked real bacon.

I'm not a vegetarian and I keep the stuff around because its better for than bacon and as an addendum (i.e. on top of hamburgers or sprinkled on salads) I think its great. I don't fry them, however, microwaving them seems to work fine or sometime I'll put them on the grill, but no oil. Just cook 'till their crispy and enjoy.

The microwaving was better, thanks for the suggestion.

Something about it looks very Japanese. Perhaps it's the too-pink pink coupled with the very opaque white color scheme.

I enjoy many fake meats, but I have to say that faux bacon disturbs me.

It wasn't so bad, though I think many other fake meats were a lot tastier.

There are so many things in life that don't taste good the first time you try them but they grow on you.

I thought the facon looked pretty, but when your compare it to real bacon you bring forth the Idea of what it should look like. I'm not sure what I am trying to explain, maybe some cave shadow concept.

My kids will put something in their mouth spit it out and then put it back in again.

For me Soda is back to nasty, (then again it has been over a year since I even tried soda) Mentally I still miss Rootbeer, but I get over it.

I suppose the only thing that matters is if you look it or not. Perhpas it matters if it smells like Kimchi or something that is offensive to smell.
