Epic Night

For WoW players: in one night I picked up 3 epic [purple] items, (though I'd been working toward one item for some time). The two BoE felheart items showed on the AH for (I hope) relatively cheap, and I finished accruing enough honor points for the PvP warlock pants.

For non-WoW players: For the past year, the only way to make your character "better" was via getting better gear. I wasn't willing to sacrifice all my other interests for WoW, so I never joined one of those raiding guilds to get the best loot.

Because the expansion pack is coming out soon I wanted to upgrade my main character some so I could go explore the new world they've just added, which motivated me to work at getting some better gear. I'd been going through the player-versus-player (PvP) honor grind, which requires less serious scheduling than raiding, and was really close to being able to afford the first item from the PvP set.

However I'd saved up a bunch of gold and two other epic warlock items showed up on the auction house for 200 and 250 gold (If I was reading the statistics correctly about 30-50% lower than average). I only had 389 gold, so I had to quickly sell some rare items (arcane crystal and 40 twilight texts) to raise the cash to buy both items.

We have a pretty small guild. Usually enough on to do a 5 man, maybe a 10 man sometimes, so we joined an "alliance of guilds" that we run MC, ZG and AQ with. It's a really great group and allows us to do higher end instances without being part of a huge guild. We were working on Major Domo when interest faded due to the holidays/TBC coming out. We still do MC but haven't fully gotten back into the swing of things since the holidays, but it's ramping up again. I have 6/8 T1 on my priest and 2 on my hunter.

I did the pvp grind on my hunter as well, to get a gun, chest and helm. That gear is pretty darn sweet.

Grats on your new gear!

Yeah I've wanted to do the alliance of small guilds as well. It seems like an obvious way of getting to see the raid content while still keeping the feeling of a closer knit community.

And thanks :)

Currently I am in a raiding guild on a PvP server. I have 5 lvl 60 chars on the server.

Warrior - 8/8 tier 1, 1/8 tier 2
Shaman - 4/8 tier 1, 1/8 tier 2, 4/6 Warlord gear
Hunter - 2/8 Tier 1, 1/8 tier 2
Druid - 3/8 Tier 1

On all of these chars, even without full tier 1, the rest of their gear is mostly epic(purple), same with my 5th 60 which is a warrior. Some gear from BWL/AQ40 on all of them, and on my warrior.

The biggest problem our guild has faced is apathy since the gear from the first half of BWL is infeerior to the PvP gear. The guild took a sabbatical from raiding to group up for PvP. Its a change in the way everything runs. But it is a bit of fun.

I still believe there are more things in life than just WoW (not that you can tell from my current journal.)

So I only have one level 60. Though a do have a level 59.5, who I've been avoiding leveling because the level 60 PvP queue times blow giant chunks for alliance.

There's absolutely no question that other people are far better equipped than me. I was just shocked that I made a big step in one night.

Congratulations on getting 3 purples, Diane! That's fabulous. Now mount up and jump back and forth across the ironforge bridge like you own the place.

You might want to have saved the arcane crystals as they disenchant into 3 arcane dust, a TBC enchanting material. But you can always get more since you have mining skill.
