I was selected, not elected

A few days ago I received a letter from the Registrar-Record/County Clerk of Los Angeles county containing a "Certificate of Election". It was a difficult campaign for the 21st Senate Green Party County Council against Sir Not Running and Lady Empty Seat.

Thank you to everyone who signed my nomination papers (or were willing to).

I didn't do any politicing to get elected, I mostly volunteered to fill an empty seat. I'm not a politician, I just feel responsible.

(Which sadly might really be the kind of person who should be part of the government.)

Oh, I know. Been there. But I helped get the Party on the ballot, so I have a major soft spot for Greens. That'll just be me, quietly swooning in the corner.

I think I promised to be thoughtful and listen to people, and attend meetings.

Though I want to include some of the EFF-esque interest in privacy and intellectual property issues.

Now it's time to rig the voting machines and get you elected! You know some good hackers, right?

I thought we were supposed to be against voting fraud? I know a number of recent elections have a taint of illegality about them... but it doesn't mean we should to the same thing.

(If anything we should be banning those friggen things).
