While suffering writing text for a proposal that was supposed to go out several days ago, some friends called and asked me to come out and see them. As I hadn't seen musicwomyn in a long time I fled from the clutches of MS word and hung out with friends.

I was then briefly mocked for my lack of posting as of late... Which led to this post...

One thing I've noticed about myself is I tend to discount my own life and only feel like posting when talking about "important" things like life, death, taxes, and other vast societal issues.

I never write about:

My girlfriends is really cool and I really like her. (Though currently I'm less than happy with her grad school stealing all of her time, it'd be nice if they left us at least a little bit.)

Although she's busy, she's also one of the bridesmaids in a wedding this weekend off in idyllwild. The fun part is that since the various members of the wedding party got to have their own room for the weekend, we get to spend the weekend with each other, and they're will be at least a few hours which are all ours.

Other fun things is I got a pocket bluetooth gps, and found some software for my cellphone to talk to it. (Not to mention all of the random linux software I played with to test it as well.) (There's a chance this might actually be useful when trying to find wherever we're going this weekend. (whats really cool is the gps app will happily take advantage of my phone's internet connection and download mapquest maps for wherever I happen to be standing.)

And at some point I want to rant about the evils of microsoft word for writing large collaborative documents like proposals. I so miss version control.

Your girlfriend is also mean and points and laughs at your typos, like "my girlfriends is" -- where you hidin' the other girlfriends? Or are you takin' up with Archdruid McBastardTwat in your spare time? :)

Yeah, this is the same girlfriend that made two tries at spelling "tension" last night before giving up entirely. I blame the drugs. Hopefully I'll get a break in the gradschoolin' soon.

I dunno, it's been a while since I've seen you, and Iset has been worming her way up my bed. ;)

And I'm betting the combination of both friends wedding and grad school is extra lethal for your time.

We should do that treasure hunting thing I have heard about where people have left odd packages at GPS locations for others to find...

That'd be fun...

The gps software I'm using on my phone can even link to the geocaching website so you can find what geocaches happen to be near you right now.

I have been doing geocaching for a while, very fun. There happens to be a couple caches on campus if you want to test out your unit.

But do I have any time?

How do you respect another persons time. If they spend time with another and neglect school, it can only lead to tension. (did I get it right?)

I have been watching Sesame street with Harper. Cookie monster taught us a lesson in asking questions. Do you have any Cookies! Perhpas asking questions might work for you. Just don't get upset with the answers you might get back. If your more flexible make your free time match her free time.

Sorry for rambling! I'm sure you already had this all figured out.

Yeah, finding the right balance between all of ones various commitments is tough. And yeah I want to be important to her, but i also want her to do well in her school.

It was good to see you too.

And so like, what was that cake-like raw vegan cake recipe?

Good luck with your baking job too.

Okay, now I'm finally getting back to you.

The vegan cheesecake came out pretty good. I still need to tweak it. I don't have the exact measurements for any of this, so it's all about guessing.

The cheesecake filling was made with cashews that had been soaked for about 24 hours. They recommend refrigerating while soaking, rinsing every few hours, and leaving out in the sunlight for about 6 hours, if possible, to inhance sprouting.

Once soaked, add cashews, coconut or almond mylk, coconut butter, a bit of sea salt, some vanilla, and about 2-3 tablespoons of soy lecithin (for one cheesecake. This is optional, but helps firm up the product). Also, the addition of lemon juice or another type of fruit or chocolate flavoring is necessary to create a flavored cheesecake. Blend.

The crust is made by first making almond mylk. To make almond mylk, soak almonds the same way as the cashews (described above). The ratio of almonds to liquid is 1 to 3. You can use water, coconut milk, or a combination of both. Blend together well. Strain the liquid through a cheesecloth, which requires some muscles because it really does need to get squeeed well. The liquid is the almond mylk and the pulp will become the base for raw vegan pie crusts, cakes, and other things. This was a part I missed. Take the pulp and dehydrate the liquid out. I don't have a food dehydrator, so I set my oven on "warm" which is below 200-somewhere around 170 degrees F. Do this until fairly dry, but not overly dry. To make the pie crust, blend ogether this almond meal with dates and push into the pie tin. I think the cake has another method and I haven't done that, yet.

Once you have the pie crust, you can make the filling and pour it in. Then, refrigerate or freeze until set.
