Summer is nearly upon us and I'm not sure what I should do with my time. So I thought I'd ask anyone reading my journal.

Poll #482539 What to do

What should I spend most of the summer months doing. I could play world of warcraft, or I have several interesting ideas of things to do which I could then show at DEF CON, and I might also be able to sneak in some programming. Though it'd be tough to do WoW and these other things.

Play world of warcraft with my girlfriend
2(11.8%)
Geek out at DEF Con (preferably dragging girlfriend along).
2(11.8%)
Oh yeah, there's also the Skype Developer Competition that looks like fun. (alas, girlfriend only has old skool commodore basic programmin skillz.)
0(0.0%)
Talk girlfriend into learning Python and/or C++ and/or ocaml
1(5.9%)
Take vacation on the train up to Seattle
3(17.6%)

So if DEFCON is in my future which things should I try doing.

Go to all sorts of talks
3(20.0%)
Play capture the flag
2(13.3%)
Submit a paper on Peak Oil
2(13.3%)

the year previous was HIGHLY annoying since they didnt anticipate for the people to space ratio and I didnt make it into 2 talks I wanted.

Instead I got the cd's.

I must be getting old.

Without that whole pre-registration thing I wonder if there's any way for them to reliably track how many people are planning on going.
Also as they get more popular it'll be increasingly hard for them to find space for everyone.

I'm just getting to old to want to stand outside sweating, because I couldnt listen to yet another speaker I wanted to listen to...

I would rather get the cd's and listen to them instead of being upset.

:)

I know I'm really really far gone on the geek scale... I sometimes think I should try moving a bit closer to the rest of humanity, but well, there's that whole being true to yourself idea encouraging me to relish in my extreme geekyness.
