Quick update

I submitted my application to the MIT EECS department on tuesday. I still need to submit my Caltech application. (But Caltech's deadline is Jan 1 as opposed to Dec 15 for MIT).

I wasted some fraction of today imagining what fun things one could do with Phidgets and Erector (AKA Meccano) sets. Phidgets provide usb servo controllers and analog / digital in / digital out controllers. Erector / Meccano sets are a metal model building toy.

I then ran across Methane Burps: Ticking Time Bomb, which is just your typically all too plausible description of how humanity might eradicate most life from earth in the near future.

I'm going back to world of warcraft and my warlock, marencia (on the cenarius server), and hide for a little longer.

I have a Meccano set I think I got at a garage sale. I also have quite a few other building toys such as K'nex and Legos. Come over and play sometime.

Yeah, but then there are always cool things like this:
http://www.solarpc.com/ which totally seems like something you could build.

My 2 cents.

Could build? Don't you mean have built?

I've already got two of the via eden boards and another via fanless cpu for a traditional board. I would like to get one of these fanless cases.

Ooh that new 1.2 Ghz board looks nice... I didn't know about that.

Though I really need to work on the solar power portion of this plan.

That's true, I had a momentary brain fart and had forgotten you already did. Whoops.

*nod* Another friend of mine and I were just talking about the aluminum cases they're using in hospitals that have special heatsink designs and no fans. Neat.

Yes I do remember you, and even noticed that you'd added me and figured out who you were from your LJ profile.

I hope you feel better soon... the all you want for christmas post really led to believe that you are still sick.

Yeah a month or two ago there was an annoying cold like that, I'd feel almost ok and then it would flare up again, and it managed to keep that up for several weeks.
