Ooh, I managed to actually accomplish some boring practical things this weekend.

I did actually manage to attach my really tall freestanding bookshelves to the wall. It's sad that screwing something into the wall was such a production.

I ordered some femme vegan shoes, which given the size of my feet was challenging. (Thankfully veganwares can customize their shoes for those not served by the standard shoe sizes.

I also bought some new bras and jeans. For the bras I went to Creative Woman because they're good at helping one pick a size. I found the result somewhat odd, several years ago I was wearing a 42B, but then after loosing 35 kg, I seem to now fit a 36DD. I'm having trouble believing that.

Although I tried on jeans while wearing a corset, the pair that I finally bought still fit when I took it off, suggesting that I'm now pretty safely a size 12. (And when wearing a corset can almost make someones idea of a 10).

This information is hard to accept considering I still believe that I'm fat. I'm 85 kg (187 lb) which in theory is a little on the heavy side for a person 177 cm (5'10") tall.

Uh I'm 5'5" and weight 170lbs. I have all my weight around my hips/stomach/thighs. I wear pants size 16 (I'm soon approaching 14). *I* like to wear size 12!

I never believed that I would wear a 12. Part of my problem is I'm still having trouble believing.

For reference, I'm size 14; I haven't been a 12 for quite a long time.

good gracious - you are precisely average size for a woman. 12 is exactly the average. don't buy into the industry's spin--they *want* to make you feel bad since an unsatiated person is a bigger consumer.

I don't really have a good sense of what is normal and healthy so I have to turn to some way of quantitatively comparing myself. So by things like BMI scores I'm still technically overweight.

BMI is most frequently wrong for people who are athletic, and I have difficulty believing that 20-30 minutes of exercise a day would mark me as being athletic.

If I try direct comparisons those are difficult because the average is seems to be highly dependent on what the socioeconomic class my sample is drawn from. My work environment seems to be more upper class and so I seem heavier than average, whereas if I compare myself to women I see at discount stores I seem smaller than average.

Though really I think my mental map of myself is lagging, and so in the mirror I tend to see a dorky overweight boy instead of healthy physically fit woman.

I still need at least a 14 or 16 shirt and am just back down to wearing 12 /33 in pants. I'm 5'4" and weigh around 135/140.

I'm actually probably fairly similar to you then since my shoulders and chest are still kind of bulky.
