What is... feeling

After being told that I should experience my feelings, I did what any intellectual does--I went and read about it.

I went off and read several interesting articles on wikipedia, and was left with this interesting view of how society fluctuates between giving passion or logic social primacy, as we flipped between the enlightenment, then the romantic period, to the modern period, to the rise of the fundamentalisms.

One of the interesting things is it sure seemed liked the social thread that came to the foreground with the romanticism seems to still be alive in (at least) the goth and ren faire subcultures. (and those are just the ones that I've observed).

The theme I read about that I might want to explore for developing a better emotional repertoire was the the emphasis on subjective sensation as the core of beauty and art that was shared by the romantics (and the following movements).
