Bay Area trip

I had a good time on my speed visit to the bay area, I managed to see several friends I hadn't seen in several years.

Some of the odder things that happened.

Arden and I were looking for the bison in golden gate park, and she went up and asked some woman walking out of the california academy of sciences. The both looked at each other a little strangely and said "You look familiar". Then each said their names and then remembered each other from Wellesley College. Very odd meeting someone randomly from a college on the other side of the country.

Another oddity was one friend I visit mentioned that they were designing DNA chips, I thought briefly and said, so you work for Affymetrix. It's intersting how computer people are now being pulled into biology/bioinformatics.

The last thing is I'm still tired, and will try and post pictures of arden's visit sometime soon.

But he's in finance. But I think he has a chem
or biology degree.

My one friend who attended Wellesley considered that
the biggest mistake of her life. Jr year she transferred to Cal Tech and was much much happier.

I think she thought Wellesley was ok as a school but she is not exactly a girly girl. She's a geek.

The queer women here at Caltech seem to think fondly of Wellesley. And at least for one of them coming here to Caltech was probably a big mistake. (Though it's probably pretty easy to guess why.)

But I can certainly see Wellesley as not being nearly as good of a science school as Caltech.

Bay Area Rocks. The Best place to live and be! I miss SF. Riverside is too HOT and sticky.

Yeah, i used to live in rancho cucamonga, and it was miserably hot out there (and it wasn't even as bad as riverside). One of the reasons I want to go to grad school somewhere far away is to experience cooler weather.
