Iset

mood: poor

I picked up Iset from the the vet today. I feel quite a bit poorer. She was brushed, vaccinated, had a number bad teeth removed, and had a biopsy of a tissue growth on her gum.

However by the time they gave her back to me she was alert though unhappy.

And she's going to continue to be unhappy as I have to give her antibiotics twice a day for the next 10 days. (with a vitamin B12 chaser)

But she did forgive me and climb into my lap

Glad to hear she's back. It's great that kitties can be so forgiving. Even after you force drugs on her twice a day. Been there; done that; it sux. You may wanna consider giving her some sort of treat after each drug treatment. Treats distract kitties and make them much happier.

Best of luck with Iset!

Thankfully I recently found a treat that iset actually likes.

Thanks for the luck, I think I'll be needing it. (Though the vet made giving pills look so easy.)

As for giving pills, you must try to be as quick and firm with your kitty as possible. My personal trick is to sit semi-crosslegged on the floor, and put the cat between my knees so I can use my legs to hold her lower half (be sure to wear jeans or thick pants). Then I have two hands for pilling -- one hand grabs the top/back of her head and squeezes her mouth open with head tilted up, and the other hand stuffs the pill and closes her mouth. I hold her as she squirms 'til she swallows. Then let her go, carefully so when she bounds away she doesn't leave a stripe on my leg from eagerness to run. After she looks pissed for a little bit, I give her a treat.

I'm glad you found a treat that Iset likes! I'm curious -- what is it?

I forgot the name of the treat but it was some weird organic thing from wild oats. I think I must have a hippie kitty. (Prefered the organic chicken to the non-organic for instance).

I wonder if had something to do with the origin of the name Iset.
