Protest

I'm going to the LA anti-war protest. Since I've read about random tear-gassing and mass arrests at anti-globalization protests in the US, I suspect that there is a non-zero chance of that happening to day. (Hopefully still low, but not inconceivable). So, if I don't post again by tomorrow morning, could someone who lives nearby (clare or kevin?) stop by and check on my cat. (And find me too...)

Well there were over a million marches in London, and it all passed off peaceful-like. Which was almost a pity - I was kinda hoping they'd storm parliament and bring back democracy n' stuff.

The organizers said 100,000 the police said 30,000 people in LA. The only thing I heard that happened is a couple of people tried to pull some motorcycle cops off the bikes, and the police rather quickly ended that.

I'll take this post as proof you made it through OK, and that your kitty will continue to have you to take care of her. : )

I actually vaguely considered going to the protest, but the only flyer I saw about it was from an "interfaith council" and talked about many Reverend types speaking. Too much not my scene. But the TV coverage I saw tonight didn't mention that -- though it didn't mention much about *who* put on the rally, just mostly about its size. They did give the many protests a noticeable amount of coverage; it looked pretty impressive.

I didn't see very many church groups while marching. At the end they did have some preacher talk briefly, though they also had martin sheen.

I'm not sure how many religious groups were involved with organizing though.

And yes, it does mean I made it back safely.
