car-free?

I recently discovered I forgot to renew my auto insurance. So it's tempting to do another "try to live in LA car-free" experiment before I need to re-register my car.

It's not like I need a car to survive, it's just useful for visiting friends and chat groups. The problem is everything is so disbursed here in LA that it's difficult to get anywhere without a car. Also there's a good selection of hills and bad neighborhoods making a 2am ride back home seem less than ideal.

Of course there is taxi service.

Thanks.... I'll need it... I did this experiment once before and after 3 months ended up lonely enough to get my car fixed.

The metro is still about 5 months from being finished. :(

When we worked out the costs of having/not having a car, it turned out cheaper to not have a car, even factoring in the costs of occasional taxis home and hiring cars for the odd weekend. Still, I imagine it is easier to get by in Leeds without a car than in LA. Good luck!
