So I was off trying to wrap my head around RDF and the semantic web when I came accross a question.

How are libraries organized in Europe, or the rest of the world?

In the US we use either the Library of Congress or the Dewey Decimal systems. However I realized both of those are US creations, so do others use them, or do other countries libraries have their own conventions for classifying areas of knowledge?
